Major KYTE held the post of G II (Air) for operation 'THURSDAY'.
It was his task to work out and apply staff tables for the whole force.
It is sufficient tribute to the excellence of his work that no confusion whatever in loading or unloading occurred throughout the operation, and that all Columns were landed complete with animals, personnel, and equipment and in a tactical order at the other end.
On the night of D plus 1, when things appeared to be going wrong, Major KYTE's imperturbability and steady application to the plan as arranged did much to ensure its success.
