On 13 April 1944 Sjt EUDY was pilot of a light aircraft engaged in evacuating 3
Gurkha wounded from HENU, BURMA. Four miles west of HENU the engine failed and
the machine crashed in the jungle. JAPANESE infested the area. Sjt Eudy
proceeded to help the wounded back to HENU. One man only was able to walk and to
assist Sjt EUDY to carry the other two in turn. At one point Sjt EUDY left all
three in hiding while he went back to the nearest water to fill their water
bottles. The last two miles of the hazardous journey was across open paddy
fields and were within (..illegible..) of the British positions when an air raid
took place. The party was finally seen by a friendly villager who reported it to
HENU, where a patrol was sent to help Sjt EUDY's party to safety.
(....illegible....) spread over period of many hours at great risk to himself.
