Naik Chandraparsad Rana MM

On 17th March 1944 this NCO took part in two unsuccessful attacks on a hill held by the Japanese. On both occasions he remained behind and covered off his Platoon which had been ordered to withdraw and personally killed or wounded three Japanese.

On 27th March 1944 during an attack on a Japanese bunker and foxhole position EAST of MAWLU this NCO led his section through a barrage of enemy grenades and assaulted the enemy position. He was wounded in the head during the assault and after evacuating his wounded men he refused medical attention and returned to command his section throughout the remainder of the operation.

This NCO displayed a high sense of duty and complete disregard of personal danger throughout the operation.
