Action for which recommended -

During the battle of KAYIN, Captain McPHERSON later killed during the action, was ordered quickly to attack some Japanese who were heard talking in the jungle.

In the attack which was put in with the utmost promptitude and vigour Naik GHAMAN SING excelled himself by killing four Japanese with his rifle and bayonet and later took command of the Platoon after his officer and Jemedar was wounded, and continued to press home the attack with vigour, 15 Japanese bodies including that of an officer were found after this attack.
