Lieutenant-Colonel A.H. Knight MBE

This officer organised and controlled No. 3 Air Base DINJAN, which although originally only intended as a subsidiary, subsequently became the main base for Air Supply of this Force.

Over and above the normal, the following additional difficulties in expanding this Air Base had to be faced, firstly all construction work in the DINJAN Area was controlled and priorities were allotted by the Americans, secondly, at this time the Command of the Force passed from Fourteenth Army to C.A.I. and lastly Supply Dropping aircraft which again had to be provided from American resources were in short supply.

It was largely due to the energy and tact of this officer that all these difficulties were overcome and this Air Base was able to meet all the demands made on it.

The very close liaison which Major Knight developed with the U.S.A.A.F. was particularly noticeable and in no small way added to the smooth running and efficiency of the maintenance of this Force.
