Action for which recommended -

During the action NORTH of NATHKOKYIN on 8th May 1944, Lieut ANDERSON was in command of an infantry platoon which was ordered to encircle the enemy by the right. This platoon encountered superior enemy forces including machine guns. Lieut ANDERSON led his men with inspiring coolness and judgement, but eventually found himself detached with only ten men of his own platoon. Joining forces with another small party he assaulted and over ran the enemy M.M.G. posts and fought his way through the encircling enemy to the double column harbour. Throughout the engagement his unflinching courage and devotion to duty was an inspiration to all.
