Action for which recommended -

During 3 months operations Sub KHAWMA carried out the phenomenal total of 50 to 60 recces. Many of these were dangerous but Sub KHAWMA could always be relied upon to ignore the danger & persevere until he obtained the information required by his Commander.

On many occasions although the patrols were purely recce, he engaged the enemy displaying outstanding leadership & bravery. On one occasion he was with a patrol of 5 which attached a Japanese MMG post, the Japanese withdrew leaving 1 MMG, 2 rifles and a food & ammunition dump.

In addition to the above Sub KHAWMA was put in charge of a small Burif section operation with a Gurkha Company generally on its own. He organised a most efficient local intelligence system which was of considerable assistance to his Company Commander. To supplement this, when in Kachin Country, he recruited a few levies who were invaluable as guides & who were used to ascertain enemy dispositions & movements.
