This officer, whose years of experience of war has made him a very fine battalion commander judged by any standard, showed the greatest zeal and co-operation in fighting alongside us in the capture of MOGAUNG.
He was the first senior officer to cross the MOGAUNG River and came straight away to reconnoitre the Jap positions. On his own initiative he deployed his troops to cover our left flank and to cut the MOGAUNG-LOILAW Road.
In the final action for MOGAUNG his troops with a few casualties captured the railway station and another strong point which I afterwards examined, near YWATHIT, by the most skillful use of his weapons and men. In the entry to MOGAUNG his troops were alongside ours in the fight which finally broke enemy resistance.
He showed the finest qualities of leadership and military judgement and impressed all officers with whom he came into contact.
