Action for which recommended -

This N.C.O. has proved himself a bold and fearless member of the Reconnaissance Platoon and has always undertaken missions involving great personal risk.

At KYUSANLAI PASS on 29 May 1944 Lance Corporal Brown acted as leading scout to a patrol sent forward to discover the location of an enemy ambush in the track, the nature of which afforded no accessible cover. By skilful and bold recce he penetrated into the enemy position before the presence of the patrol was discovered and was able to give information which led to the ambushing of an enemy truck and fatigue party.

At SWANKHA on 12 July 1944 whilst moving along a track to deliver an important message Lance Corporal Brown was intercepted by an enemy patrol who immediately opened fire on him. At great personal risk he worked round the enemy and continued on his way, successfully delivering his message at Column headquarters.
