Havildar Kulbahadur Gurung MM

On 17th March 1944 this NCO took part in two unsuccessful attacks on a hill and on both occasions remained behind and covered off his section when the Platoon had been ordered to withdraw,  killing two Japanese and wounding some others.

On 27th March 1944 in the attack on MAWLU, this NCO led his section through M.G. and grenade fire against a Japanese bunker and foxhole position. Having gained the objective this NCO organised his section under intense grenade and S.A. fire and personally shot two Japanese who had just wounded the Coy Commander.

Throughout both actions this NCO set a high standard of duty and leadership.
